336/365. This is how it's done — join this dance party

Everyone, this is Shakuntala. A client we shot this evening who graciously allowed me to post one from the series for the 365.

Not only that, it was her request that we get a shot of her jumping. With that in mind, I only asked that she "jump like this" - and this is what came of it.

And yes, this is yet again the famous charcoal making another appearance. And with proper white balance, you can get this deep blue.

Lastly, the lighting for you strobist freaks (that's what we are), you're looking at a lighting setup pretty darn near this setup with some extra help from Erin.

263/365. Brussells — the true sexy, wear heals

Our third day we arrived in Brussells, Belgium. It was pretty rad for a good day and a half.

It always helps when... Erin helps. In this case it's two fold. First and most obvious, she's my bestest model and lovely wife. Secondly, she has equal care for our surroundings. She near ran off one guy who was calling her "mama bebe" and walked in our shot a few times.

As part of our anniversary weekend, Erin and I went on a boat cruise. We waited, waited, and waited long enough... and the infamous pink skies never came. But I was determined to get a photo anyway simply for the plain fact that we were on a boat!

Funny story though, we almost had a near strobe death experience. Apparently I didn't tighten the flash as much as I should have, and it fell right off the adapter and 'almost' into the ocean! The batteries did spill and we lost one of the AA rechargables (we are now awful tree huggers). But as usual, I always carry extra batteries in the SB-900 case (I love these cases!!).

Anyway, enough with this sappy story, I have wine and cheese that must be eaten — you strobo junkies, do your thing.

I'm a day late in posting this... after a day of wine tasting and dealing with trolls on the internet. Apparently I've wronged a few people that never managed to get their panties untangled. The best comments come from the Anonymous Cowards who will most likely never become anything in life.

Nevertheless, off to Twitter I go. I'm looking forward to meeting my new coworkers.

Apparently my announcement yesterday was a bit too subtle... almost nobody got it. So let me make it clear, I am resigning from Google, and joining Twitter! Yes yes, lots of excitement. Maybe one day I'll finally meet Oprah or Shaq.

Anyhow, this shot was taken near our home. Erin had this great idea for a self portrait and did that quite nicely. I was gonna do one too, but then decided... "can I just take a picture of your legs?"

Another final thing: I've received about a dozen comments and emails talking about my "style"... in requests for me to change-things-up so to speak. Let me remind me everyone that I really only have time to shoot at night (I have a day job), and I'm enjoying what I'm doing. If you're looking for something different, feel free to browse the other 11,000+ photos in my stream. It usually takes a good month or two to fully evolve to a new type of style, but I personally feel I'm trying new things every day — and hey, this isn't easy to find inspiration on a daily basis.

Erin took me out to dinner tonight to Chez Papa Resto. It was good, but also interesting (but not worth explaining the "interesting" part).

I brought the super chub (interim nickname for the 200mm ƒ/2). Our BART train wasn't due for another five minutes, so I pulled it out and snapped a few of Erin. And holy crap is this thing amazing. It's tack sharp and the blur is just so naturally gorgeous.
