347/365. My Christmas Scarf — my first one ever, too

.... And we're back on schedule.

Today Erin bought me a scarf. It makes me look festive. From my look, it's quite obvious I'm extremely looking forward to finishing these last 18 days. Seriously.

It got me thinking after my last shot about others who have inspired me throughout the year.

So this time I want to point everyone to an amazing portrait and lighting artist I've admired long before I started this project. See Ryan Rodinis. Dig deep into his photos. He's been doing this far before I knew how to connect a flash to a transmitter.

336/365. This is how it's done — join this dance party

Everyone, this is Shakuntala. A client we shot this evening who graciously allowed me to post one from the series for the 365.

Not only that, it was her request that we get a shot of her jumping. With that in mind, I only asked that she "jump like this" - and this is what came of it.

And yes, this is yet again the famous charcoal making another appearance. And with proper white balance, you can get this deep blue.

Lastly, the lighting for you strobist freaks (that's what we are), you're looking at a lighting setup pretty darn near this setup with some extra help from Erin.

304/365. I'm a School Girl — Happy Halloween

This is, without a doubt, Erin, looking extremely hot and sexy in her Halloween costume.

Unfortunately ,between getting a trick, or a treat... it looks like you'll be getting tricked into not getting strobist info tonight — even thought the big mama softbox came thru with a second performance.

And since it's nearing on 2AM, it's time to hit the sack. See ya tomorrow.

278/365. Lucidity — yet irrational

Still getting back on track while overcoming jet lag. I was up near 6am this morning with nothing to do and fell asleep last night before getting a chance do something.

Anyhow, this is another shot inspired by Soon Magazine, a fashion magazine we picked up in Paris. And thanks to the 100 pushups iPhone app, I can decently look the part. Not to mention perhaps one day after having kids, they can know that their Dad wasn't always just skin and bones.

Kay, so I'm not actually claiming to be Mr. Flickr, but I am wearing my Flickr t-shirt. This shot was taken after at least 20 shots and 5 light adjustments... much past the point of sanity at 1am.

These are Erin's new kicks. Pretty sweet eh? And I don't know why, but this Spoon reference seemed to fit well.

Also, for those wondering, the deed has been done regarding @joemcnallyphoto.

Also, if anyone hasn't noticed — I've near gave up in trying to answer every flickr mail. It's impossible. But for the record — I still read them all, and I appreciate everyones extremely kindness and encouragement.

On the note of emails, I've been getting a growing number of requests for a DVD, or a book, or a workshop... or something that will allow people to have and/or experience something tangible and hands-on pertaining to flash photography.

Well, your voices has been heard, and Erin and I are making a Movie!

Haha. Ok, maybe not that, but we've definitely considered the SF FlashBullet workshop. We'll continue to discuss.

215/365. Please, step into my office — your prescription awaits

This was one of those no idea nights where I simply packed my stuff up, went outside, dropped my stuff, pulled out the chair from the garage, sat in it, lit it, shot it, packed up, went back home.

Today was an insane non-stop pair programming today. It's a style of development, albeit not my favorite, that can often more than double your work flow simply by always having two eyes on the same code — it prevents far more mistakes. Thus, it can only be a good thing — and it was. But now I'm tired and must sleep before we do it again tomorrow.

And finally for those who pointed out the the impersonator of @JoeMcNallyPhoto, we're on top of it. Will be taken care of in the morning.

212/365. Equivocal — or something else

The manhunt has still been on for the thief. Meanwhile I'm pretty sure we scared him off and have pretty much written off that I'd get the thing back. I will, however, be reporting the serial to... whatever organization it is that you report these things to (police? that seems so over the top). It will make a good statistic.

Anyhow, here's a photo of me. Contrary to many of my shots, the blue here was ACTUALLY produced with a blue gel. Despite this being somewhere in the 4000k° range, it's nowhere near my usual sub 3Kk° shots.

Ok, so I'm taking cake lyrics on a bit too much. But I'm having fun with it.

So basically, this photo screams my style. It's very similar to this older shot... but this time I went outside and setup a third light, and threw out the focus even more. Talk about borderline abstract.... at a certain point I won't be able to call it art anymore :o
