57/365. The way I see it, if you're gonna build a time machine into a car, why not do it with some style? ~ Dr. Emmett Brown (Back to the Future)
I may bring my SB-900 with me everywhere I go because it's just that freakin' cool! Again after only having it for three days, lighting up photos is a sinch! This was shot right outside the Gmail building near the parking lot. It took about 3 minutes to set it up (connecting pocket wizards, and dialing in the right settings). Similar to yesterday's photo, getting a reading was easy as pie.
strobist info: Nikon SB-900 @ 1/16 power — 5' from subject at near 90°. Zoom head at 135mm
camera info: Nikon D700 | 50mm(ƒ/1.4G) | ƒ/11 | ISO 200 | 1/250s
wardrobe info: Nike shoes (duh)
On another note — Quickr Flickr Update!
For those using the Quickr Flickr GM script, please update! I fixed some bugs and added a shortcut to "star / favorite" a photo by hitting the "s" key. The comment form is also now on the right hand side which won't overlap with the comments for those of you with smaller screens. Cheers :)
and on one FINAL note you should let Patrick know how great his photography is.

55/365. I'm not giving up ~ Less Than Jake (Al's war)
There's a tiny gut feeling inside that makes me smile anytime I get to pair a selfy with a Less Than Jake quote (a band I've loved since 1996).
On another note, I finally pulled the trigger on the SB-900 (to have it in time for SouthBy). It will be a great compliment to my SB-600 as it can make the perfect two light setup. Erin rounds out the lighting family with a Genesis 200 and a Vivitar 285Hv. Between the two of us we're doing well in pwning the strobist world (although it's no David Hobby collection).
On a final note, I hope everyone is enjoying the Quickr Flickr script. There are some known issues that I'm working on fixing soon enough. Cheers. Happy Tuesday everyone.
Strobist info: SB-900 @ 1/4 triggered via CLS (grrr — it was being picky tonight). Zoom head @ 135mm with 1/1CTO gel (although worthless since I went BW anyway). Light was 5' from me (camera-right if it wasn't obvious) on a 7' tripod (not lightstand — my wife took them for the day).
Camera info: Nikon D700 | 14-24mm(f/2.8G)@24mm (cropped in PP) | f/4.0 | 1/4s | ISO 1000

53/365. Um, Peter, according to this, you're not a genius. In fact... you're mentally retarded. ~ Brian Griffin on Peter's test results (Family Guy)
Had a lazy Sunday. Picked up a Battery pack + 150w inverter for $54 at the Kragen's. Sure beats paying Profoto $1,000+ for any of their batteries!
On another note, I wrote another post on SLR Geek titled 5D mkii versus D700; Strobist Edition. Comments or questions are welcome on my blog.
Tonight's shot was done with a DIY grid spot made out of coroplast, super glue, and gaffers tape.
strobist info: Nikon SB-600 @ 1/2 power on 85mm head thru 1/8" grids (hard light, long throw)
camera info: Nikon D700 | 50mm(f/1.4G) | f/16 | 1/250s | ISO 200
wardrobe info: 10 year old beanie from R.E.I. and an ODEO t-shirt.

52/365. Does every 365 project have to have a quote go along with every picture? ~ Erin Caton (on cheesy quotes paired with 365 photos)
large on black (worth it)
A storm was a'brewin' and we caught it just in time as the clouds started to scour the rooftop of our home. Just immediately before this shot we were watching cartoons and making grid spots with coroplast and super glue so it was a great reason to get out of the house due to the smell. This was shot with my dinky little SB-600 on full power :) strobist geeks can read the info.
Model: Erin Caton
Strobist info: SB-600 @ 1/1 into collapsed 45" convertible umbrella (so more like 20") about 6' from subject. Head was set to 24mm.
Camera info: Nikon D700 | 14-24mm(f/2.8G)@14mm | f/8 | ISO 800 | 1/2s | rear curtain (or what you canonites call second curtain)

47/365. I have muskles
Had a little more fun with the lights again. We tried some different textures and various two light setups. The light in the back was actually blue, but I thought the overall photo looked better in black and white. Happy get back to work day!
strobist: genesis 200 @ 1/16 medium camera left - SB600 @ 1/4 behind Erin

strobist info: Nikon SB600 @ 1/2 power into 45" umbrella high and left. I believe the vivitar 285 was left out of this one.
Petra was about 3' from the light, and roughly 6' from the red wall.

32/365. How much do you love me? ~ Sideshow Bob (The Simpsons)
Everyone, this is Sideshow Bob of the Simpsons. I'm sure you know of him. I wanted to get a good photo for the day before not giving myself enough time after the super bowl (which I'm about to run off to).
models: Sideshow Bob (main center), Homer Simpson, Bart Simpson, Maggie Simpson, Mr. Burns, and Krusty.
strobist info: Nikon SB600 at 1/8power | low and closed down 45" umbrella at 45° triggered with pocket wizards.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Cheers.

26/365. Hello? Operator! Give me the number for 911! ~ Homer Simpson
First off, I had a shot planned for earlier in the day where I met a new dog at work today, but as soon as I met the owner he told me "Well, I couldn't possibly let you shoot my dog with a Nikon." Of course, he was joking, but it's rarely how I like to start new conversations. "Brand" debates are my least favorite discussions on photography — and I think everyone should get the right camera that will suit them best, and get over the fact that you had nothing to do with the making of that product.
ANYWAY, so this is Homer Simpson which I shot when I returned home with the Genesis. And there ya have it, my day is finished and now I have to pack for New York! Look forward to some shots from the Big Apple.
Camera info: Just look at my exif | lens: 85mm f/1.4D
strobist info: Genesis 200 @ 1/16 power 3' from subject at 45°

25/365. It's like feeding crack to your eyes ~ Me
Today was our first time out of the home with the strobe gear. This shot was taken in an empty lot near 24th & Valencia (you'll see exactly where this is the map).
Anyway, there are three others shown previous to this one in my stream. Be sure to also check out Erin's shots from the same evening.
camera info: Nikon D700 | 14-24mm(f/2.8G)@20mm | ISO 400 | f/7.1 | 1/200s
strobist info: Nikon SB600 @ 1/1(full) power | about 60° to left about 10' high into a 45" umbrella | flash to subject ~ 6' | subject to background ~ 5'
Cheers everyone. See you tomorrow.
